When you get online with your first home based business, naturally your primary goal is to earn your initial investment back. That could almost be classified under the “human nature” category.

But… in most cases it’s that very “instinct” to get our investment back as quickly as possible, that causes us to make the most expensive mistakes. It is also the “instinct” that is most manipulated by those who would profit from your inexperience, or impatience.

So the first thing you have to apply to your attitude is this… Be confident in your products or services. Whatever investment you made to start your new online business, no matter how much it cost, If it was good enough for YOU to invest YOUR hard earned money in… it’s good enough for others to invest their money in.

Your main goal at this point will be finding people online and offline, that have similar business goals as your own. They will be the people who will most likely understand why your business proposition makes sense, and why they should invest in you.

The next attitude adjustment you may need to make is understanding that no matter how impressive your products and or services are, your customers (especially online shoppers) are really “buying” or investing in YOU just as much as what you are selling. Remember, when you walk into a store to buy a product it doesn’t really take a great leap of faith,to believe that you are getting what you pay for.

Shopping on the Internet is almost exactly the opposite. Especially when considering spending hard earned money with a largely unknown entity such as a small online home based business. That does require a certain amount of “faith.” So be patient. “Faith” is a hard sell!

So you’re not really selling a product or service.Think of yourself as selling trust, and confidence. If people don’t trust YOU, they won’t buy from your website. No matter how perfect your products are. Does your website content reflect your sincerity, as an honest human being? Or does it just “talk” about the benefits of your products or services?

Your next attitudinal priority as a new online home based business owner should be PATIENCE. Remember… Hurry. But take your time! In more concise terms, don’t procrastinate, but be methodical.

Putting a home based business online is similar to giving birth or planting a crop. There has to be an incubation before the goal is achieved. It’s the natural way of things. If you are new to doing business online, you’ll most likely at some point be tempted to “buy” your way out of this natural incubation period before your business becomes successful. In other words you may be tempted to purchase website visitors. (”traffic”)

Trust me… in the end if you are new at this stuff, and try to purchase success, your investment is going to quickly become a bill. A large bill. And the moment you stop paying for your website “traffic”, you lose all of your visitors! When you pay for website visitors, you never own your “Traffic”. You’re simply renting it. Which in the long run will become cost prohibitive. (for many reasons.)

So be of the attitude that you are in this online business for the “long haul.” Be prepared to experience a learning curve. A two to three year learning curve. Even if you are getting the best information available, it’s still going to most likely take you at least a couple of years to really digest what you’ve learned. “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.”

And lastly, From this point forward, until you really understand exactly what works successfully for your small online busness, NEVER invest more in a product, or service than you can afford or are willing to lose or forfeit. With this attitude adjustment, it will be much easier for you to practice patience, as you work toward earning the success you most surely deserve and are destined to enjoy.
