The most valuable links will come from sites that deal with a similar topic area to yours. Now that is not to say that backlinks from totally irrelevant sites will do you no good, but links from related sites just makes more sense. By doing this, you not only get visitors who find you through the search engines, but you also get human visitors who came to your site from the related site which they were visiting.

Rule #3.

Natural growth of backlinks. Knowing how important it is to get links that point to your site, there is a strong temptation to hurry the process up. Dont.

If your site today has 2 links to it, and tomorrow has 500 links that isnt natural. The only way you could get that is by using some sort of artificial aid – and that is not something Google will reward. Quite to the contrary.

So be sure to drip feed your new links out. If you are not doing it manually (and who has the time to do that?), use a service which adds a few backlinks per day. Not hundreds in one shot.

Make sure all your links dont say the same thing. If 50 different webmasters find your site and set up links to you because they like your content, they are certainly not all going to use the same wording in the hyperlink. So any linking system you choose should allow you to specify a handful of different key phrases for your links.
